Winter rainfall region
Driest parts of the winter-rainfall area. Namaqualand, Ceres Karoo, Worcester-Robertson-Montagu triangle, and the Little Karoo. Most plants are endemics, occurring here and nowhere else. High levels of succulent diversity with world-famous spring floral displays. Plants comprise mostly smallish bushes, mesembs and other succulents, and perennials. There are a few large shrubs and trees. Long, hot and dry summers, and little winter rainfall.
